Research Associate (Plant Transient Assays) to join our team at our
Johnston-Reid, Iowa location!
In this lab-based role, you will work both independently and collaboratively, following protocols and delivering high-quality results to facilitate decisions using your skills to facilitate transient plant assays. Your expertise will drive critical projects, from plasmid design to data analysis.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities):1. Vector Coordination: - Coordinate vector requests with stakeholders
- Maintain records of requests and completed projects
2. Plasmid Design, Build, and Curation: - Create plasmids and curate bacterial archives for use across transient assays.
- Utilize Geneious for precise vector design
3. Data Management and Communication: - Document experimental data accurately in Benchling and other database systems.Collaborate with stakeholders in the Discovery Assay and Screening (DAS) team.
- Demonstrate strong written and oral scientific communication skills
4. Methodology Optimization and Innovation: - Contribute to the optimization of established methods
- Develop new assays, techniques, and methodologies
- Complete projects with an innovation mindset focused on alignment with stakeholder goals
Qualifications Education: - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related field, with 2+ years of relevant experience
What Skills You Need: - You possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience
- Prior research and lab experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in vector design and gene expression in plants is a key skill for this position. This involves direct experience with vector construction techniques (PCR, Gateway cloning, Gibson assembly, primer design, and restriction digests)
- Proficient skills with Geneious Prime software
- Aseptic techniques in laminar flow and bio-containment hoods
- Knowledge of light and fluorescent microscopy
- Proactive problem-solving skills and meticulous record-keeping
- Familiarity with laboratory safety practices
- You must possess effective communication skills and work well with others
- You are comfortable with technology and possess good computer aptitude including the use of Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and are willing and able to learn other company specific applications as required

- This position does NOT offer a comprehensive domestic relocation package
