Job Description
- Perform diagnostic tests and inspections on agricultural equipment, including tractors, combines, harvesters, planters, and other machinery, to identify issues, malfunctions, or mechanical failures.
- Repair, adjust, or replace defective parts or components of farm equipment, such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and fuel systems, using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks on agricultural machinery, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and cleaning, to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic problems and implement appropriate repair solutions.
- Operate computerized diagnostic equipment and software to analyze equipment performance, diagnose faults, and calibrate systems for optimal efficiency and accuracy.
- Fabricate or weld metal components as needed to repair or modify farm equipment, ensuring structural integrity and adherence to safety standards.
- Test repaired equipment to verify proper functioning and performance, making adjustments as necessary to achieve optimal operation and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed records of repair work, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings, using electronic or paper-based documentation systems.
- Provide technical support and assistance to farmers or equipment operators in the field, including troubleshooting equipment problems, offering maintenance advice, and demonstrating proper equipment operation.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and manufacturer specifications for farm equipment, attending training sessions or workshops as needed to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies in all aspects of job performance, including proper handling of hazardous materials and disposal of waste products.
