Job Description

Position Summary:

We will offer a 12-week paid internship to a qualified and motivated individual who will be responsible for learning our agronomy operations and understanding management and operations viewpoints while working on special projects. You will find a team-oriented organization committed to safety and excellent customer service with the opportunity to develop even more skills that will be beneficial in the classroom and beyond!

Essential Functions:

  • Enters purchase order data in the inventory control system.
  • Accepts, verifies, inspects, and records all deliveries according to policy.
  • Records, reports, and returns defective items.
  • Processes invoices, supplying necessary data to accounting or other appropriate department for payment and recordkeeping.
  • Maintains the organization and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
  • Handles complaints related to shipments; notifies supervisor of any shipping or receiving issues.
  • Comply with government regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, loaders, and tender trucks.
  • Ability to document, complete, and maintain records not limited to fertilizer and chemical inventory, production maintenance, daily operations, and inventory.
  • Responsible for loading and delivering customer products and services that are sold by the location.
  • Inform the Location Manager of operational, customer, vendors, or employee issues that may arise.
  • Scouting, soil sampling, tissue tests, assisting with orders, field days and training events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be pursuing an agriculture related degree or certification at a 2-year community college or 4-year college or university with the status of freshman, sophomore, junior in good academic standing at time the internship begins.
  • Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Ability to travel independently and/or overnight as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrates essential abilities including communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
  • Frequently required to lift 51-70 pounds as needed.
  • Frequently exposed and required to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, etc.), as well as working at various heights or elevated platforms.
  •  Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on company policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
