Job Description

Typically includes the following responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks, to ensure the proper functioning of diesel engines and related components.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify the root cause of engine malfunctions.
  • Conduct repairs and replacements of engine parts, such as fuel injectors, turbochargers, and exhaust systems, to restore optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines and specifications for troubleshooting procedures, repair techniques, and parts replacements to maintain warranty compliance and quality standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and services according to prescribed schedules to prevent breakdowns and prolong the lifespan of diesel equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations for working with heavy machinery and hazardous materials, including wearing appropriate protective gear and implementing proper safety procedures.
  • Document all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic findings, to maintain accurate records and facilitate billing processes.
  • Coordinate with other mechanics, supervisors, and parts suppliers to obtain necessary resources and support for completing repair jobs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Stay updated on advancements in diesel engine technology, repair techniques, and industry best practices through training programs and professional development opportunities.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to junior mechanics or apprentices to facilitate their learning and development in the field of diesel engine maintenance and repair.
