Divisional CoMan/Supplier Quality Specialist - Decatur, IL or Columbus, NE

The Divisional CoMan/Supplier Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring the execution of supplier quality standards and maintaining compliance with food safety regulations. This role involves providing quality oversight for supplier management processes, partnering with various teams to establish and maintain raw material specifications, and leading the development of manufacturing instructions. The specialist will also manage supplier qualifications, oversee quality-related issues, and collaborate with procurement to enhance supplier performance.
This position reports to the Supplier QFS manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Oversight:
    • Provide quality oversight for supplier management processes to ensure compliance with Global and Business Unit (BU) Supplier Quality Standards.
    • Manage supplier and contract manufacturer qualification and approval processes for assigned BU/product lines.
  • Specification Management:
    • Partner with quality, commercial, procurement and others to establish and maintain specifications for incoming raw materials and effectively communicate these specifications to suppliers.
    • Lead the development and maintenance of manufacturing instructions for products produced at contract manufacturers (CoMans).
    • Develop and maintain Raw Material Purchasing Specifications.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to Foreign Supplier Verification Program requirements where applicable.
    • Oversee and enforce the management of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and conduct follow-ups with escalated suppliers to address quality issues.
  • Data Management and Reporting:
    • Collaborate with Procurement to provide quality-related supplier data and metrics for scorecards.
    • Collect and share necessary supplier data with BU and local quality leadership to drive continuous improvement.
    • Maintain BU-level supplier documents and data for assigned areas, ensuring up-to-date records and compliance.
  • Performance Monitoring:
    • Collect and analyze performance metrics related to supplier quality and food safety, identifying and escalating trending issues for timely review.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with BU and QFS Location Managers to ensure effective execution of supplier quality requirements and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality management, food safety, or quality assurance within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, HACCP) and quality management systems.
  • Proficient in data analysis and performance metric tracking.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
  • PCQI Certification
  • Certification in Quality Management (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ).
  • Experience with supplier audits and assessments.
Working Conditions:
  • This role may require occasional travel to supplier locations and manufacturing sites.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
