Sr Manager Sustainability Communications - Chicago or Decatur, IL

About this opportunity: The Senior Manager, Sustainability Communications, will play a crucial role in shaping and communicating our sustainability initiatives to both external and internal audiences. This role requires a creative thinker with a deep understanding of sustainability issues and a knack for crafting compelling messages that inspire action and drive engagement.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with ADM's Sustainability team as well as business and other leaders to develop, manage and execute an integrated, comprehensive, strategic approach to both external and internal sustainability communications and campaigns.
  • Manage and direct external agency resources dedicated to sustainability communications.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, community organizations, and industry groups. Manage media inquiries and coordinate interviews.
  • Manage internal/colleague communications to ensure consistent understanding and appreciation of sustainability efforts across the organization. Create engaging materials for colleague awareness and involvement.
  • Track the impact of communication efforts and provide regular reports on engagement metrics and outcomes. Use data to refine strategies and improve effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate an ability to interact, collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels, across geographies and businesses
  • Develop and grow a working knowledge of ADM's history, strategy, culture, products and services
Qualifications, core skills and experience:
  • 7-10 years of experience in communications.
  • Deep expertise in the global sustainability space and ability to offer insightful, expert guidance in a wide number of areas including:
    • Strategy: How companies can best differentiate to achieve and maintain distinctive voices and leadership positions on key issues; awareness of changing and evolving opportunities and risks.
    • Issues specific to ADM, including (but not limited to): Intersection of agriculture, food and sustainability; regenerative agriculture; deforestation; carbon reduction.
    • Events: Knowledge of which sustainability-related events around the globe are important to reputation and thought leadership, and - equally as importantly - which are not.
    • Media: Understanding and familiarity with broad landscape of sustainability media and reporters, including demonstrated relationships with key reporters and outlets.
    • NGO landscape: Understanding of key players, and best opportunities for engagement and partnerships.
  • Experience in the agribusiness or food manufacturing industries is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex issues in an accessible and engaging manner.
  • Comfort with changing priorities and a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
