Elevator Superintendent - Marshall, MN
This is a salaried exempt level role.

Position Summary:
This position has overall responsibility for the elevator operations. The Elevator Superintendent must investigate the means by which elevator operating procedures can be improved, and implement improvements in the efficiency of the department operations. As a member of management, you are expected to set a model safety example by following and enforcing all safety practices including the reporting, and correcting of hazards and unsafe work practices during daily rounds of the elevator operations.

Responsibilities:
  • The Elevator Superintendent ensures grain quality consistently meets appropriate and acceptable levels.
  • Research and makes recommendations regarding process improvements or modifications to improve design, quality, reliability, and safety, to optimize efficiencies and reduce unnecessary expenditures.
  • Perform housekeeping, safety audit and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Maintain the rail tracks and rail unloading operations for the site.
  • Must be able to develop and implement projects to improve elevator operations, i.e. energy reduction, efficiency, cost reduction, maintenance and reliability, and follow project through to completion.
  • This position requires a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and experience driving continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for colleague development including include training, technical support, mentoring and periodic performance feedback.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communications with the commercial and plant teams.
  • Fill in and work with other departments as needed, for the common good of the complex.
  • Experience leading teams is required.
  • The physical requirements include the ability to climb stairs, prolonged periods of standing, walking and sitting, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces and from heights.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as needed outside of the core work schedule including nights and weekends.
Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of grain handling experience
  • Demonstrated participation and leadership in plant safety programs and process hazard analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage personnel, schedules, and other resources
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interact with multiple employees, management personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict; motivating, instructing, and training personnel
  • Must be able to utilize independent judgment to solve problems, have excellent organizational skills to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks, and strive for continuous improvement
  • General knowledge of software systems such as Maximo and Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Access, Word, and SharePoint).
