Position Summary: The mission of the specialty ingredients technology center is to enable growth, innovation, and optimization while providing on-going process oversite and support through technology leadership. The technology engineer, under the guidance of a technology manager, is responsible for leading optimization, innovation and capex portfolio management within an operating area. The technology engineer is a key partner and stakeholder in plant performance, should be a subject matter expert on processing systems and technology in their area, and is a core member of the operations leadership team. The technology engineer is a leader in collaboration with commercial teams and R&D on identifying and deploying new technologies and systems for the growth and improvement of our business.
Job Responsibilities: - CAPEX planning, prioritization and tracking. Active Participation in the portfolio management process.
- Guide and drive the technical scope for capex projects.
- Partner with operations leadership in the development of site capital budgeting
- Act as a super user of WAVE for oversight and managing the portfolio of initiatives within the region.
- Drive accountability of initiative and project execution
- Support the prioritization of the Project portfolio in cooperation with the Plant Manager, Business stakeholders, ADM COE pillars, and the Technology Director
- Support plant projects including the FEL process. This could also include oversight of contract engineers.
- Function as a manufacturing technology resource for plant operations leaders.
- Implement and track performance metrics to maintain or improve the effectiveness of operating assets.
- Develop process knowledge required to guide plant engineers in the optimization of unit operations and the achievement of production targets.
- Participate in the development of SOPs, MOC and commissioning for specialized equipment that is specified by the Technology group.
- Manage emergency support as needed.
- Assist plant personnel with the diagnosis of operational difficulties and provide recommendations for corrective action.
- Actively participate in the operations performance management process
- Function as a champion to propose new technologies.
- Champion initiatives related to the design, development, implementation and maintenance of automation, process control and optimization applications.
- Drive a culture of Safety and Food Safety by partnering with operations teams on technology solutions.
- Proactively collaborate with all ADM Centers of Excellence to drive results.
Job Requirements: - BS of Engineering, preferably Chemical, Mechanical, Agricultural or similar
- 5+ years of experience in a project or process engineering role in the food, Biofuels and Ag processing industries is preferred
- Operations leadership experience is preferred.
- Dedication to working safely and to the awareness for the safety of others.
- Excellent communication and people skills for working with plant personnel and regional management.
- Willingness to spend time in plant areas - tolerate extreme temperatures, walk long distances, stand, climb stairs and ladders and move through close spaces.
- Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently
- Less than 10% travel
Skills: (Languages, computer skills etc.) - Demonstrated problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills, with a result focused approach.

- Demonstrated strategic mindset.
- Self-motivated work habits and capable of prioritizing and balancing resources between multiple simultaneous initiatives.
- General knowledge of software applications and willingness to learn and utilize new applications as needed.
- Direct experience in applicable manufacturing unit operations preferred, for example: liquid/Solid extraction, distillation, centrifugation, filtration, spray drying, dry blending, extrusion and packaging.
- Operational experience in agricultural manufacturing processes preferred, for example: Hard and soft seed extraction, Vegetable oil refining and Corn wet milling.
- Controls and plant automation knowledge or experience.
