Job Description

  1. Safely operate a commercial truck with a CDL (Commercial Driver's License) to transport agricultural products, equipment, and materials to and from farms, fields, storage facilities, and processing plants.
  2. Load and unload agricultural commodities, including grain, hay, livestock, and equipment, using appropriate methods and equipment such as forklifts, loaders, and ramps.
  3. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards governing the transportation of agricultural goods, including Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies.
  4. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels, to ensure safe operation and compliance with mechanical requirements.
  5. Plan and execute efficient transportation routes to maximize productivity and minimize fuel consumption, while adhering to delivery schedules and customer requirements.
  6. Communicate effectively with farm managers, dispatchers, and customers to coordinate delivery schedules, report delays or incidents, and provide updates on delivery status.
  7. Adhere to loading and unloading procedures for various types of agricultural products and equipment, ensuring proper securing of cargo to prevent shifting or damage during transportation.
  8. Maintain accurate records of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery activities using electronic logging devices (ELDs) or paper-based logbooks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  9. Adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies in all aspects of job performance, including proper handling of hazardous materials, equipment maintenance, and housekeeping.
  10. Participate in training programs and safety meetings to enhance job skills, knowledge of transportation regulations, and awareness of safety practices.
