Production Supervisor - Forsyth, MO

SUMMARY:
Supervise and coordinate all aspects of Tableting, Tablet Coating, Encapsulation, and Blending on 2nd shift. Work closely with other department supervisors to coordinate production work flow.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time. Attendance is key to performing the job. Include, but are not limited to, the following;
  • Monitor machine down time and production rates to maintain quality and quantity.
  • Monitor cleanliness and mechanical condition of all production equipment.
  • Direct work, conduct performance appraisals, reward and/or discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Ensure that all shift members are trained properly and signed off on SOP's.
  • Maintain daily accountability of all department members.
  • Assist in development and improvement of methods for monitoring quality of product being manufactured.
  • Provide a safe working environment.
  • Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and all company policies.
  • Oversee training and cross-training program.
  • Assist in development and improvement of new and old safety policies and safety training.
  • Assist in writing job descriptions for respective areas.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all equipment and operate such equipment.
  • Develop and maintain currency with the computer and programs related to production Operations.
  • Ensure materials for each formula needed is provided from warehouse.
  • Review all paperwork on completed formulas for accuracy.
  • Assist in fiscal year inventory.
  • May aid in the interviews and hiring for 76 Facility.
  • Ensure production laundry is completed.
  • Maintain time and Absence Reports.
  • Cross train on various equipment and in other departments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies.
  • Directly supervise the Tableting / Encapsulation Departments and Blending on 2nd shift.
  • Must have the ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
EQUIPMENT USED:
  • Encapsulation, Tableting, Tablet Coating, Inspection equipment, and Blending equipment. Computer, telephone, facsimile machine, copier, material handling equipment.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • College degree or two years in house manufacturing experience or three years supervisory experience required.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Ability to read, comprehend and dictate simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and physically at different levels of comprehension in one-on-one and group situations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY:
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram forms.
  • Deal with problems involving personnel and mechanical situations.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to apply or quickly acquire basic methods of instruction. Must be a good communicator and be self-motivated.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.

  • Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and move at least 150 pounds using a pallet jack, dolly, or other material handling equipment.
