Health & Safety Coordinator- Erlanger, KY

This is a salaried, exempt position.

Position Summary:

This position will establish and oversee the health and safety processes for the organization, review industry regulations and specific risks in the workplace to ensure normal activities are handled safely. Will work with colleagues on safety protocols and enforce them if they are not being followed properly.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Support and assist the Health & Safety (H&S) Manager in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Organize and conduct safety meetings for colleagues.
  • Assist in incident investigations and analyze accidents, near misses, and hazardous conditions to identify root causes.
  • Maintain/update/upload safety records, including incident reports, training materials, and safety data sheets.
  • Collaborate with shift management and department heads to develop and update safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Enforce known safety and health rules.
  • Provide daily follow-up on all safety incidents under investigation.
  • Take the lead role in any emergency or security situations.
  • Build colleague commitment and enthusiasm for safety through effective leadership and influence.
  • Participate and/or run the Safety Pillar Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills & Education:
  • Bachelor Degree in Safety and/or safety board certifications preferred
  • Minimum of three to five years previous safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior safety experience in the food and flavor industry a plus
  • COUPA knowledge
  • Total Process Safety knowledge preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and computer skills also required.
  • Ability to work off shifts as needed required.
Physical Demands:

Employee will work in manufacturing, lab and office environments and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions from management. The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed. Prompt attendance is a must.
