Job Description Cloud Service Portfolio Architect
The Cloud Service Portfolio Architect is one of two leadership positions with ADM's Cloud Center of Excellence. ADM's Cloud CoE is the organization that is accountable for defining and Governing ADM's Cloud Strategy and decision-making process. It is also the organization dedicated to fostering development of new cloud services and capabilities for ADM to consume. These services are treated as IT "products" owned by service owners and scrum-based service teams who develop and support them.
The Cloud Service Portfolio Architect will lead these service teams. He or she will be responsible for defining how the service teams operate, the methods they will use, the IT imperatives their new cloud services need to serve, and helping to ensure services are developed and operated in an orderly manner. This is a very important role for the future of ADM IT.
The Cloud Service Portfolio Architect needs to be proficient in skills of technology consultation, communication, and relationship building. He or she will combine these soft skills with in-depth knowledge and insight and be able to establish him or herself as a trusted advisor to the business and IT Leadership.
Reporting the Cloud CoE Lead and Enterprise Architecture overall, the Cloud Service Portfolio Architect works with and helps support all of ADM's Cloud CoE processes. He or she serves as a role model for and mentor to the rest of the cloud service development community.
Job Responsibilities
- Deployed to Cloud Center of Excellence and reporting also into Enterprise Architecture
- Responsible for the development and delivery of end-to-end Cloud services, such as PaaS
- Manages the overall Cloud service roadmap
- Responsible for developing a repeatable development and release methodology for service teams to follow
- Responsible for conveying and enforcing the cross-functional priorities of the Cloud CoE into new cloud services (e.g., security, financial performance, reporting, monitoring, etc...)
- Acts as a functional lead to cloud service teams regarding service architecture, service operations, and service delivery
- Oversee development and management of relevant services / teams, and be accountable for quality delivery of the service
- Understand customer demand and expectations from stakeholders, and appropriately plan for service development and delivery
- Helps support and manage cloud FinOps processes on behalf of the CCoE Lead
- Understand business strategy and priorities (i.e., strategic capabilities), and work with Global Technology groups to align the IT strategy
- Effectively translate IT strategy into enterprise architecture roadmaps that supports the achievement of the organization's targeted business outcomes and differentiates ADM in the marketplace
- Identify the need for specific Business or Technology roadmaps, standards, and reference architecture patterns based knowledge of trends both internal and external
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and utilize this knowledge to educate both IT and the business on opportunities to build better target architectures that support the business strategy.
- Lead the enterprise's most complex or strategic solution design efforts
- Research, experiment, and prototype new solutions
- Drive the roadmaps of a range of business and technical architecture services
- Develop expertise in areas of technical need
- Support Service Team MVP exercises
- Maintain and develop technical standards
- Help develop cross-functional technical services, including DevOps pipelines, test automation, infrastructure as code, digital-self-service
- Support vendor reviews, including vetting Application and Integration and SaaS vendors
- Manage adherence to defined architecture standards throughout the Application development lifecycle
- Provide oversight and coaching to developers as part of the Architecture Services Organization
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and utilize this knowledge to educate both IT and the business on opportunities to build better target architectures that support and drive business decisions
- Support IT Enterprise governance functions (RFI's, vendor risk assessments, etc...)
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of IT experience
- Involvement multiple end-to-end enterprise solution programs
- 5+ years of technical solution design experience end-to-end
- 5+ years of experience working with DevOps technology and methods
- 5+ years of experience working in Agile development methods
- Ability to conceptualize complex ideas into technology strategies
- Ability to translate and map organization needs to existing enterprise capabilities. Define and drive technology roadmaps to address capability gaps
- Track emerging and innovative technologies and drive architectural Principles and Standards to the next level of innovation and maturity.
- Ability to generate high and low level solution design artifacts involving Cloud Services
- Experience conducting design reviews and architecture reviews involving Application and Integration
- Understanding of cloud foundations including security capabilities, network capabilities, and application capabilities
- Solid understanding of modern data and analytics design patterns
- Solid grasp of IT governance and controls
- Knowledge of Data and Analytics platforms
- Knowledge of automation platforms
- Strong interpersonal collaboration skills and ability to work across technology domains
- Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate both upward and down
- Excellent technical design skills
