The Agronomy Plant & Fertilizer Operations Lead is responsible for excellent customer service, accurate and timely loading and unloading of products, inventory counts and control, equipment, plant, and grounds maintenance along with the support of other plant personnel. The Agronomy Plant & Fertilizer Operations Lead is responsible for maintaining and operating the chemical plant, warehouse, fertilizer plant, and anhydrous ammonia facilities at the location.  Keeping safety in mind at all times while performing these operations is essential.  Assisting the location manager and in other locational operations as needed.

Customer Service

  • Keeps the Location Manager informed of operational, customer, vendors, or employee issues that may arise.
  • Promotes the business with existing and potential customers.
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times; exhibits good customer relations skills.

Inventory Control

  • Precisely blends and loads fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, and pesticides based on recommendations and label directions.
  • Organize, maintain and move warehouse inventory on a first in, first out schedule.
  • Verify quantity, quality and package integrity of inbound warehouse inventory and record any deviations from the bill of lading.
  • Complete monthly and yearly physical inventory counts.  Assist with reconciliation of inventory.  Be able to do accurate inventory extensions based on count and size conversion.
  • Must be or become proficient in understanding various products, package sizes, and locations of agronomy products.

Work Schedules

  • Completes all assigned tasks according to work order estimates and their daily work schedule.
  • Communicate daily with the Location manager.
  • Displays reliable attendance and schedules time-off with advance notice.

Maintenance

  • Performs required preventative maintenance and have all preventive maintenance reports turned in on time.
  • Responsible for the plant and equipment maintenance of agronomy facilities.
  • Responsible for grounds maintenance at the location.
  • Responsible for the professional image of the agronomy plant.
  • Other job duties as assigned. 

Safety & Organization

  • Keeps all inside and outside work areas extremely neat and orderly.
  • Continuously follows the company employee policies safety guidelines and safety programs established by the company.
  • Completion of safety reports and required records.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Custom Applicator's License:  Core, 1A, 1B, 1C are preferred or ability to obtain
  • Class A CDL with necessary endorsements including hazmat preferred or ability to obtain
