Job Description

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Location Manager with additional support from the Precision Manager. The Specialist will be expected to work in all areas of Agronomy; crop production, Integrated Pest Management, the use of in season satellite imagery, soil fertility, irrigation, crop rotation, plant physiology, weed, insect & disease identification. Duties will include a variety of assigned tasks, with the goal to help our staff better serve our customers through as many different nutrient management activities as possible through hands on crop scouting, operational responsibilities, nutrient management plans and interactions with the producers, and our own agronomists.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Soil, Tissue, and Nematode testing using our Field Alytics & Nutrisolutions software
  • Familiar with multiple precision platforms. John Deere, Raven, SMS, etc
  • Ability to bring in data from multiple sources, and use to write VRT fertilizer and seeding recs
  • Scout customers fields and accurately report back information to the agronomy team
  • Assist our Agronomists in bringing precision technology to our growers
  • Work in a team atmosphere with the rest of the agronomy staff
  • Special projects for the agronomy sales team & management as needed
  • Support and maintain all customers subscribed to our SMART program
  • Write and update Nutrient Management plans, CNMPs, & NMPs for CAFOs in a timely manner
  • Work effectively and manage relationships with all County LCD, State DNR and Federal NRCS staff in the territory
  • Understand & administer all relevant Carbon Sequestration programs for staff & customers
  • Help in Operations during season
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • An associates or bachelors degree in Agronomy or related field.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, SNAP Plus, SMS, Climate, R7 and Field Alytics GIS software
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Highly motivated to learn new skills, computer programs & information
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Certified Crop Advisor and Commercial Applicators License
  • NRCS TSP Certification Technical Service Provider via the Natural Resources Conservation Service
  • Organized with attention to detail.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
